What We Don't Collect
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone, address)
- Health data you enter into the calculator (age, weight, height, body fat percentage, activity level)
- Calculation results (BMR, TDEE, macro targets)
- Account credentials โ there are no accounts
- Payment details โ no payment is required anywhere on this site
What We Do Collect
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are visited and how the site performs. This is aggregate usage data, not your calculator inputs, and it is collected on every page including this one:
- Approximate location โ derived from a truncated IP address, at country/city level
- Device and browser information โ browser, operating system, screen size, device category
- Usage data โ pages viewed, time on page, referring site, and similar metrics
- Cookies โ Google Analytics sets its own first-party cookies (typically
_gaand_ga_*) to distinguish sessions
Google acts as our data processor for this information. SeeGoogle's Privacy Policyand theGoogle Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. You can also block analytics entirely with a content blocker or your browser's tracking protections without affecting the calculator.
How Calculations Work
When you use our calculator, your browser downloads the calculation logic (a few kilobytes of JavaScript) and runs it locally. Your inputs never leave your device โ they're processed in memory and displayed back to you instantly. This means:
- Calculations work completely offline once the page is loaded
- No server infrastructure can access your data
- No database stores your information
- No API calls are made with your personal data
Local Storage (Optional)
Your browser may store the following locally on your device (not on our servers):
- Language preference: Your selected language (13 options)
- Theme preference: Light or dark mode
- Calculator inputs: Your last entered values (age, weight, etc.) for convenience
- Calculation results: Your last BMR/TDEE results for quick reference
This data is stored using the browser's localStorage API and is only accessible by you. You can clear it anytime by clearing your browser data for calorieprofessor.com.
Third-Party Services
We use Google Analytics 4 (gtag) to understand aggregate site traffic. No advertising or other analytics services are used. Specifically:
- Google Analytics 4, which does not log or store full IP addresses
- No Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, or enhanced ecommerce features
- No Facebook/Meta Pixel or social media trackers
- No Hotjar, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar analytics
- No advertising or fingerprinting scripts
- No cookies set by this site (Google Analytics may set its own cookies; see Google's privacy policy)
Two other third-party requests are made by the browser: the Google Fonts stylesheet used for typography (fonts.googleapis.com) and Google Analytics itself (googletagmanager.com). Everything else โ scripts, images, the manifest โ is served from our own domain.
Meal Plan Generator
The meal plan generator is a separate feature from the calculator, and it is free โ no payment is collected. When you generate a plan, the preferences you selected are sent to our server so the plan can be built:
- Your goal, gender, diet type and allergen selections
- Your calorie and protein targets (derived from your calculator results)
The server uses those values to look up recipes from TheMealDB, a third-party recipe database, and returns the finished plan to your browser. Your age, height, weight and body fat percentage are never sent. The generated plan is not stored on our servers long-term; it is returned to your browser and kept there in sessionStorage until you close the tab.
Children's Privacy
Calorie Professor is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Calculator inputs are never collected; Google Analytics does not target children and honors applicable children's privacy laws.
Data Retention
Your calculator inputs and results are never sent to our servers, so we retain nothing from them. Google Analytics data is retained per Google's standard retention settings (26 months by default for user-level data). Local storage data (language, theme, calculator inputs) persists until you clear your browser data or manually remove it.
Your Rights
For your calculator inputs and local storage data, you have full control โ clear it anytime in your browser settings. For Google Analytics data, you can:
- Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
- Use a content blocker or your browser's tracking protection
- Submit a data deletion request to Google per their privacy policy
